Upon the unveiling of Sony's next generation console the PlayStation 4 gamer's began to worry that with this next generation console that the prices on games will be increasing as well. Well fellow gamer's we have nothing to fear! Sony Computer Entertainment America CEO Jack Tretton shared that Sony will not be increasing the purchase price by $10 like gamer's had feared.
Jack Tretton shared with CNBC that Sony plans on maxing out the cost or purchase for a game at $60. He says "I think people are willing to pay if they see value there and I think there's more choice than ever before for consumers. We're going to welcome free-to-play models; games from 99 cents up to those $60 games. But if you really see where the heat is for the true gamer on the console it's still that big-form experience that typically runs upwards of $50 million to develop and will justify that $60 price point and will give people hours and hours of gameplay on a daily basis for months and years to come."
This bit of news is great for gamer's itching to get their hands on the next generation consoles. One legitimate concern was if the cost of games would increase as well and thankfully even though the hardware is increased making the starting development periods for studios a little more difficult the price of games won't change for gamer's.
