Grand Theft Auto 5 Official Release Date

Have you been dying to hijack automobiles, flee from an army of cops and swat, and wreak havoc on your multiplayer friends in Grand Theft Auto 5? Well my friends today we finally got the official release date for the highly anticipated GTA5.

Originally Rockstar had slated the game for a release in the Spring time frame of this year. Numerous rumors and possible leaks spread like wildfire across the internet about the possible release date, but all of those have been proven wrong. Rockstar has set GTA5 to be released on September 17th, 2013 for Xbox 360 and the PS3. Rockstar pushed the game to a September release to "allow additional development time" for the game. While I personally wish the game was being released sooner the thought of more development being put into an already fantastic looking game gets me even more excited for the release.

Rockstar Games founder Sam Houser said today "We are very excited for people to learn more about the game in the coming months." All this news is getting gamer's even more excited for the game and rightfully so with Rockstar's history of Grand Theft Auto games. Rockstar Games and Take-Two Interactive have projected that the game will reach $600 million in revenues. This number doesn't seem far fetched for the GTA series and gamer's will be running to the stores in September to play one of their favorite franchises.

Dark Souls Director Moves On

Over the last few years Demon Souls and Dark Souls have caught gamer's attention in one way or another and kept gamer's coming back for more. Gamer's were told they had more on the way with the worldwide reveal of Dark Souls 2 at the Video Game Awards on Spike TV. Unfortunately yesterday a sad bit of news was revealed regarding Dark Souls and someone on the development team.

Hidetaka Miyazaki was the director for both Demon Souls and Dark Souls for the development studio of FromSoftware and it appears he will be moving on into another project. This decision was a company based decision by Namco Bandai in order to inject the new upcoming game with some fresh blood. Replacing Miyazaki's role as director is Tomohiro Shibuya and Yui Tanimura.

Even though Miyazaki is saddened by the chain of events he shares "Sometimes I'd like to work on a warmer game - not necessarily casual, but warmer in terms of the atmosphere and the environment." Any gamer who has played or watched gameplay of Demon Souls or Dark Souls knows exactly what Miyazaki is  talking about with atmosphere and enemies. Even though he will not be taking part in the development of Dark Souls 2 he says he very much looks forward to playing it and that it's important that the developers serve the series fans with whats to come.

China Possibly Removing Ban On Video Game Consoles

Gamer's in China have had a pretty rough and difficulty process of playing video games over the last number of years. In 2000 China had enacted a ban against video game consoles in the country to protect child development. Due to this ban no consoles were ever released there such as Xbox 360, PS3, and the Nintendo Wii. The only thing similar to a console that was released in China was an iQue Player which was a plug-and-play console released by Nintendo.

Since this ban has been in place for Chinese gamer's they've had to find gaming in PC, and pirating games to play. With the announcement of the possible lift of this ban stock in Nintendo and Sony has risen due to the fact Chinese gamer's are going to need to do some catching up in the world of gaming. The only difficult challenge in lifting this ban is that it was enacted by seven ministries over a decade ago. In order for the ban to be lifted they all must agree to lifting this ban for gamer's.

Legend of Zelda: HD Wind Waker and Wii-U Zelda In Development

One of the things people have been asking Nintendo to develop for the Wii-U was a Legend of Zelda HD Remake. Today we got the announcement from Nintendo that The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker is in development for an HD Remake for the Wii-U console. On the Facebook page multiple screenshots were showcased to show the updated graphics for the remake.

The majority of fans had been asking for a remake on the Wii-U for a Zelda game, but they were asking for a different game in the series. Most people had been asking for Nintendo to remake Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask for the new console. Even though this isn't the remake fans had been asking for in particular the response has been very strong with support towards Nintendo.

Along with this news of the upcoming remake Nintendo also announced that the brand new Legend of Zelda is in development for the Wii-U. In a Nintendo Direct broadcast Eiji Aonuma stated that the Wii-U's entry's mission statement is to "rethink the conventions of Zelda". This includes the linear progression through dungeons and more. Unfortunately Aonuma said that the new Zelda game will take some time to produce and gave no hint as to when Nintendo plans to release the game. On the bright side Nintendo fans can pick up the Wind Waker HD Remake this Fall.

GTA 5 PC Listed On Some Retail Sites

One of the main questions we've been asking regarding Grand Theft Auto 5 is will the game be released on PC. Today we got a small glimpse with answering the question of whether or not the game will be released on PC right away.

Grand Theft Auto 5 was listed today on multiple European Amazon sites. Among the countries listing the game include FranceUK, and Germany. Looking through the these webpages after being translated by Google there wasn't a release date revealed for either consoles or PC.

This news once again brings up the question of whether or not the PC version will be released alongside the consoles on the same release day. The PC version for Grand Theft Auto 4 was released in December of 2008, while the console versions were released in April of 2008. Rockstar had shared with us that they do plan to release GTA5 on the PC, but the last bit of news we heard was the developers wanted to put more focus on the consoles for their release before the PC. Rockstar has yet to comment on the status of these Amazon pages and whether or not these pages are 100% real.

Halo 2 PC Servers Being Shutdown

Well folks it appears Halo 2 multiplayer is saying its final farewell to gamer's. The original Xbox Live servers had shutdown back on April 15th of 2010 and players had said farewell to playing their favorite online Xbox games such as Halo 2, but Halo 2 still lived on in the PC community. Unfortunately it was announced today that the PC would be saying goodbye to Halo 2 as well. On February 15th Microsoft will be shutting down the multiplayer PC servers for the classic Halo 2.

This news is due to the fact that the servers are being used by to few of people. An announcement read "We've been monitoring the population for months and it's been peaking consistently at approximately 20 players or less". The game will still offer LAN multiplayer gameplay for gamer's to still experience with friends, but this is the official final farewell for Halo 2 online multiplayer.

If you own a copy of Halo 2 for the PC go hop on and play some games before it's gone forever. With this news gamer's have been hopping on and grinding for the mulitplayer achievements that the game has to offer. Even with this news the servers haven't filled back up with a large number of player's, but people are still playing it. We as gamer's bid farewell to this classic game and we'll never forget all the memories that were created when playing the multiplayer of this great game! Farewell Halo 2.

Sony Dropping Classic DualShock Controller For PS4

Many gamer's have spent hours upon hours playing games on the classic dual shock controller for PlayStation 1, 2, and 3, but this classic piece of gaming equipment may not be here for the next console. Multiple sources have reported that Sony has put time into researching development for a controller with an LCD touch-screen on the front and biometrics on the back. This controller design and layout is very similar to the PS Vita that Sony had released last year.

Sony has yet to comment on whether or not these sources of information are actually true. If these sources are true this is a risky move for Sony due to multiple reasons. The classic dual shock controller had been established on the PlayStation 1 back in 1997 and remained on every PlayStation console since then. Sony had even considered using a different controller code named 'banana pad' for the PlayStation 3. This idea of altering the controller was replaced by the dual shock upon the public disagreement on changing the controller.

Will Sony take the risk of changing their controller for the upcoming PlayStation? What is your opinion on this rumor of changing the controller? Do you want to use a different controller after using the dual shock for nearly 16 years?

Diablo 3 Director Steps Down

It was announced today that Diablo 3's Jay Wilson was stepping down from his position as director. Jay Wilson had been on the development team for seven years and had decided to move onto other projects for Blizzard.

In a post on the Diablo 3 Forums Wilson shared that this decision was no easy decision. Blizzard has already agreed to transferring him into a new project that has yet to be revealed. Wilson assured gamer's in the post that this will not affect the state of Diablo 3 development for upcoming features. Blizzard is planning on filling the director decision by opening a job posting in order to explore every opportunity to find the best individual for the job. Wilson finished the post stating that patch 1.0.7 and that the PTR is live.

With this news we wish Jay Wilson a farewell from his work on Diablo 3. We are grateful for what you've done for us as gamer's and we look forward to seeing what the future holds with you and the Blizzard project you will be contributing to!

Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon Release Date Announced

If your a gamer like myself you might own a 3DS, but own very few games that hold your interest anymore with it. Fear not my fellow gamer's because a game that we've been waiting for has finally been scheduled for release in North America!

Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon has been given a release date of March 24th. Over the last 6 months the game has suffered from multiple delays from Nintendo, but the game is finally going to see the light of day in March for the 3DS.

For those of you unfamiliar with the premise of game it looks to be quite interesting and intriguing. Dark Moon follows Luigi who has been sent by our old friend Professor E. Gadd to explore new mansions through teleportation. It's said that you will explore at least three different mansions with the help of some old friends as you run into some old enemies as well. Shigeru Miyamoto stated that Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon will be more puzzled-oriented than the original and Toad will assist Luigi in accomplishing various goals.

For me as a Nintendo kid I absolutely loved the original Luigi's Mansion. I've been waiting for this game to release since last year, and even though the game is set to release on the 3DS I still have high hopes for what Nintendo can do with this game. Come March 24th you'll have your chance to adventure into the unknown mansions as Luigi like we did 12 years ago.

Nintendo Merging Handheld and Console Divisions

Today it was announced by Nintendo that the company is planning on merging their handheld and console divisions into a single unit. With merging these two divisions into one they're tasked with creating next-generation hardware. The merging of these two divisions will be begin on February 16th. About 150 handheld and 130 console engineers will begin working together out of a new $340 million facility nearby the companies main headquarters.

A merging like this hasn't happened for Nintendo in nearly a decade. Back in 2002 Saturo Iwata had replaced Hiroshi Yamauchi as the president of Nintendo and had the companies two Research and Development teams transition into the Entertainment, Analysis, and Development division.

It's unclear what Nintendo has intended for the future of the company with all this restructuring. Plans have even been speculated that Shigeru Miyamoto is planning on retiring from his position at the company and be replaced by EAD deputy manager Takashi Tezuka. This speculation comes from a 2011 interview with Miyamoto saying Nintendo ought to be "structured" without before he leaves the company in someone else's hands. What's to come from Nintendo is very unclear, but we as gamer's certianly hope its for the better of the company and will help us enjoy their games just like we did when we were kids.

ARMA 3 Developers Released from Greece

The past 120 days have been a difficult journey for Ivan Buchta and Martin Pezlar, but things are finally turning in their favor. Ivan and Martin are two Czech developers for Bohemia Interactive who went to Greece where they were going to get pictures and videos to use in the upcoming game ARMA 3, but things didn't go as planned. Upon them arriving in Greece and beginning to take pictures and video they were accused of espionage and were put in jail.

After understanding the situation and trying to find the solution to getting these two guys back to their families they've finally been released from prison on bail. The community website HelpIvanMartin.org showed that the bail was 5,000 Euro's each, which translates into $6,686.50 American dollars.

Once again all this was due to them being accused of espionage when they supposedly were taking pictures and video of military areas inside of Greece. Bohemia Interactive stated in the starting portions of this fiasco that the two were on vacation and were not there on official company business, and they never entered any military area during their visit.

It's been a long journey for Ivan and Martin and we at home did everything we could to help get these guys back home to their families. Now that they're free all we can say is welcome home we missed you guys!

Batman Domain Names Registered

Over the last few years Batman fans have been getting more than what they wanted with the video games and movies, and it appears more is to come soon. Today 15 different Batman domain names were registered for an unannounced reason. Speculation from fans is pointing towards Warner Bros continuing development into the Arkham series of video games.

Unfortunately there is absolutely no way to tell if any of these websites apply to any upcoming games in development, or any new movies that may or may not be in production. Along with not knowing what these domains are for its not even certain that Warner Bros was the company that registered these 15 domains. The domain holder registered himself with a privacy service, so there is no way to tell if this is actually Warner Bros protecting its secrets or just a random fan who is wanting to get some attention.

The list of the 15 registered domain names are as follows:

arkhamuniverse.com (Arkham Universe)
batmanarkhamuniverse.com (Batman Arkham Universe)
batmanarkhamarises.com (Batman Arkham Arises)
batmanarkhambegins.com (Batman Arkham Begins)
batmanarkhamdarkknight.com (Batman Arkham Dark Knight)
batmanarkhamknight.com (Batman Arkham Knight)
batmanarkhamlegend.com (Batman Arkham Legend)
batmanarkhamlegends.com (Batman Arkham Legends)
batmanarkhamnight.com (Batman Arkham Night)
batmanarkhamorigins.com (Batman Arkham Origins)
batmanarkhamstories.com (Batman Arkham Stories)
darkknightarkham.com (Dark Knight Arkham)
dcarkhamuniverse.com (DC Arkham Universe)
dcarkhamverse.com (DC Arkhamverse)
thearkhamuniverse.com (The Arkham Universe)

Currently all plans and news regarding these domain registrations is rumor and speculation, but we certainly hope Warner Bros has more to come with Batman whether its video games or film.

Steam Box Is Coming

Over the past few days a lot of details and rumors have been released regarding Valve's upcoming home console known as the Steam Box. Prototypes of the Steam Box are currently being shown at CES 2013 and news regarding Valve's plans and work put into the Steam Box have been revealed.

One of the main questions about the Steam Box is what operating system do they plan to use for it considering its a console based computer that can be more affordable for consumers. Valve shared that the Steam Box will be a Linux-based Steam Box, but in an interview with The Verge Gabe Newell stated "That'll be a Linux box, [and] if you want to install Windows you can. We're not going to make it hard. This is not some locked box by any stretch of the imagination." With the Steam Box using Linux or Windows if the consumer chooses to install it Valve will have the Steam Box designed specifically for Steam and Big Picture mode for gaming.

Gabe also shared that the Steam Box will be coming in three different versions that Gabe referred to as "Good", "Better", and "Best". Valve shared that they viewed the "Good" as the "low-cost streaming solutions that you're going to see that are using Miracast or Grid." Regarding "Better" Gabe stated "Better" is to have a dedicated CPU and GPU and that's the one that's going to be controlled." And finally regarding "Best" Gabe said "You can always sell the Best box, and those are just whatever those guys want to manufacture. [Valve's position is]: let's build a thing that's quiet and focuses on high performance and quiet and appropriate form factors."

Features that will be included in the Steam Box include Netflix capability, internet web browser, controllers designed from Valve specially for the Steam Box, and much more. Regarding the controller development from Valve Gabe stated "I think you'll see controllers coming from us that use a lot of biometric data."

Get ready gamer's because the Steam Box is coming and it's going to be great. Valve has shown that they're plans are fresh, new, and exactly what gamer's are wanting to see. No news has yet been released regarding when Valve plans to release it, but nevertheless it's coming!

Used Wii-U's Allows Customers to Download Previous Customers Games "Rumor"

It's been seen and rumored that customers that purchase a used Wii-U from retailers and create an account on the console can re-download any games from a previous account that was on the console. This possibility is due to the fact that the Nintendo Network ID's are associated directly with only one console and not used on any other Nintendo devices such as the Wii or Nintendo 3DS. This rumor was started when a NeoGAF user purchased a used Wii-U and created his own account on the console. Upon creating the account he was able to download Nano Assault Neo and Trine 2 free of charge from the marketplace.

So far we've heard no statement or comment from Nintendo regarding the issue. Whether or not Nintendo will be able to fix this error is unknown due to the fact this could be built into the hardware itself or possibly built into the marketplace and software changes need to be implemented. More news and statements regarding this rumor will be shown as soon as we hear anything from Nintendo or other users who are benefiting from this.
